Riboflavin is a non-toxic, water-soluble B vitamin found in food such as milk, cheese, leafy green vegetables, eggs, lean meats, liver and enriched cereals. It is necessary for normal cell growth and function. Recent research has also indicated that high dose riboflavin supplementation can be helpful in the prevention of migraine headaches. Some signs of deficiency are scaly or dry skin, cracks in the skin located at the corner of the mouth, a swollen purplish tongue, sensitivity to light, and burning, itching, bloodshot eyes.
When used for migraine prevention, we recommend 400 mg of riboflavin once a day. CFN’s Riboflavin contains 100 mg per capsule, thus 4 capsules once a day is the recommended amount. Results are usually noticed within a few weeks of treatment.
